Hi guys, long time staying silent but still been reading regularly. Bit of a long post here but stick with it because I think it might interest people.
This summer I'm doing an internship with a new company called Urstreams.com. It's basically a streaming media, networking site. Think Myspace and Youtube combined but accommodating all forms of media; video, image, audio, text, on a customisable page called a ‘channel'. The aim is to create a place where media of all levels, genres and origins can be placed and given exposure. An added perk is that the site is completely advertiser funded and the content owner gets fifty percent of any advertisement revenue that their work is coupled with.
Anyway, the main thing for guys like us is the aim to create a platform for content no matter how new, how obscure or how unsolicited (a word we all know very well!). The guy who kicked Urstreams off is very interested in trying to build relationships with production companies to give maximum exposure to unsolicited artists.
So my task now is to gather artists and their content to make up some channels before the official launch of the site happens. I told them that I could focus on comedy channels as I had contact with a number of people who might be interested in having a profile and putting their content on Urstreams.
You can view the site at www.urstreams.com to get a feel of what's going on. Parts of it are a bit incomplete at the moment and any adverts you see are there free of charge for now, but it's a good time to get involved. Come be one of the first.

I'll then make an account and profile page for you, hand over the details and leave you to play with it.
The whole set up is completely non-exclusive, you keep all rights to your work and you can remove your content at any time!
