Graham Linehan interview...

He makes some good points.

Very good points.

As for BBC 3, I do not operate a complete embargo, because of Gavin & Stacey and Thieves Like Us. But otherwise charmless is certainly the word. A youth channel that so intent on dumbing down to the most loutish common denominator is not the way to convince licence fee payers of the merits of Public Service Broadcasting.

Can't disagree with anything the great man says. Spot on.

Graham Linehan is the best man ever.

Better than you?

Better than you?

Only just.

I agree to an extent but to never watch BBC3 seems harsh. What about the Boosh? Gavin and Stacey? Ideal? Plus, as newer writers it'd be unwise to take his stance, considering the massive comedy output BBC3 does.

I do agree there's some right old shit on there, but I always thought that BBC3 was there as a kind of test track for new ideas. There'd be a lot less writing work around if it wasn't there, that's for sure.

The interview says:-

Speaking to The Stage ahead of delivering a masterclass in comedy at this year’s MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival...

Does anyone know if this will be released as a podcast or video?

(The 2006 festival had a South Park Masterclass, http://www.mgeitf.co.uk/home/festival-highlights.aspx )

Last year had a Peep Show one with Bain, Armstrong and Andrew 'Talkabout' O'Connor. 'Twas ace! Best thing at the TV Festival.

No vid/clips as far as I know :(

Dan

That is all so true, although Pulling had a bit of shock factor and I really enjoyed that.

Agreed. Didn't see the second series, but I watched all the first. It wasn't a 'laugh yer arse off' comedy, but there was something really likable and watchable about it.

I'm sure Father Jack would totally agree about the non-necessity of gratuitous, non-stop swearing...

The man doth have a point! But it's Linehan, and he's the king!

That would be an ecumenical matter!
