A Slagg Brothers' Sketch Page 2

Then you missed a treat! Most folks on this board can "distinguish" between 'been done before' and 'someone had a vaguely similar idea and took it in a totally different direction', I can also distinguish when something has been done better. I had high hopes for this, but it didn't meet them. I'm sure Slag A or B don't mind me having an opinion on this, even if it does differ from everyone elses.

Not having a pop at you mate, because as I say I don't know what you are talking about. (And sorry, but the little I have seen of Bo Selecta didn't inspire me.) But I know I personally have wasted time in the past tracking down supposed examples of where my ideas have been done before, only on unearthing the evidence to think, huh? So now I don't sweat on it.

Tbh I'm split over this sketch. I think the general concept of having a guy being bleeped go to the doctor to find out why is good, however I don't think the sketch did the concept justice.

You're right, Gav.

We're still working with a camera that has issues with lighting. We had to film up against a huge window in blazing sunlight before the faces began to show up. Then I had to angle them so that they weren't directly looking at each other just to get good angles to the light source. The field of view is also naff so i can't get in close. In the end, they were both jammed up against the table just to fit into frame.

But I am getting a decent camera soon - must have mini DV to get uncompressed output / High Def. Thinking of the Canon HV30 - it lacks 3ccd which I think is a must for low light but it has a large CMOS sensor that is supposed to be comparable.

Any techies here think the HV30 is a good buy or am I missing an obvious prosumer choice?

That HV30 Is a nice piece of kit. The one I thought would suit you down to the ground is the XL but its alot more expensive but the picture is fantastic I got some Footage if you wanna see.

The Sony Handycam HDR-SR12E isnt miniDV but may be worth checking out.

Ooh, been watching the XL but eBay prices start low and rocket out of my price range.

Will google the Sony Handycam HDR-SR12E but ideally wnt miniDV to get uncompressed output to the PC - I think HDD and DVD ones compress before you can get at the raw footage.

I always love beeps so found it funny but I have seen the same idea many times before.

Yeh. I suppose. Having the tape in your hand is better then having the camera decide how to compress for you.

If I was still in college I'd of nicked you and XL for the weekend.

I did it once took it to Aber Uni and got wrecked and was filming and was amazing footage lecturer went Ballistic. I was like what I signed it out lol this was like 4-5 years ago so they were more expensive back then ;) but was amazing footage I got.

Gav: The XL is so space age, with that lovely pro-looking curve to it. The Sony cam looks decent and am wavering - 15 hour capacity HDD at high qual. Decisions decisions.

Marc P: A few of the new bunch of sketches feature Tara and Jobe. Both better actors than SlagB. And better-looking. And younger.

Nick: You're right - it stings a bit. :)

I must remember to watch this sketch when I get home. I can't access youtube at work.
