Say you had an idea for a fun, upbeat and silly sitcom set in the seventies with three main male characters flatsharing in it - who would you cast, in an ideal world? Any ideas?

Perry, not saying that you are, but if your ARE working on something set in the seventies then I'd find out what is going on with Gervais&Merchant's 'The Men From The Pru', which I know they have at least got as far as casting and is set in the 70's. Not quite sure if it's going to be sitcom or a one-off, but I'd find out. The reason being that once those guys do anything set in the 70's you can bet that every bloody commissioning editor and producer will be looking to turn anything else set in the 70's down.

Cheers for the heads up I'll look into that.

Hopefully they'll be doing just a one-off comedy drama or a film. God knows how Gervais finds the time with his involvement in two films at present and doing stand-up. Lucky, lucky basard.

Good luck with it anyway. Would like to see something like that. :)

Peter Serafinowicz (?) might be good.

My money is on Gervais never doing telly or stand up ever again.

There's no 'might' about it. The man is a comedy whirlwind.

And you can bet he'll try his hand at more "serious" acting. He did an episode of some American drama a few years back that I can't be bothered to try and remember the name of.

Alias?

Ricky Gerv-alias. Ho ho ho. What you're seeing there is magic, first hand.

Comedy gold.

Rising Damp. Sorry, what was the question?

Gervais writes a blog. He's been talking lately about the next sitcom he wants to write with Merchant.

So, don't worry.
He's not Simon Pegg. :(
