'Rescue Me' DVD petition

You may remember when I first joined this website I tried to start a petition to release 'Smack The Pony' to DVD. Unfortunately the online petition site I used to be honest was... crap and I apologise to anyone who had to go through with the waiting and loading etc. I've decided to start a new petition on a better website but only this time not for 'Smack The Pony', though I may do if this website is better which I'm told it is, but for the BBC romantic comedy drama 'Rescue Me' which still stars Sally Phillips. I've wanted to see this show for a while but it doesn't seem to have been repeated after is original broadcast. I also think that any fans of 'Love Soup' might be interested in this because of the link in genre and that both the leads have appeared in Green Wing (I'm just thinking of any connection) and is a show for Sally Phillips' fans for which I clearly am. Out of interest Oliver Chris (Green Wing), James Lance (I'm Alan Partridge), Stewart Wright (Doc Martin) and Vincent Regan (300 - yes the film) also take part in the show. I e-mailed the BBC and they actually replied saying that there were no plans to release it but public interest would persuade them. If you are at all interested or you just want to help visit the link here or on any of my other posts and sign up. Each one is gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

I did like this too.

For anyone who signs I'll give you a hug, or handshake if you prefer that (though you understand I can't actually visit you so you'll have to pretend. I will give you a spiritual hug). It is no longer 1 signature but 2. 2!

I might do a Dave Gorman adventure and visit each of you individually and hug you and take a photograph for evidence of our meeting. That would be nice.

I've signed.

It wasn't very succesful, was it? The viewing figures weren't great and it didn't get a second series. I doubt they'll be in a rush to release it. That said, they have released far more obscure shows.

I admit it didn't get what they hoped for but I started this petition just on the off chance. Like you say this is better than some of the rubbish that has been released over the years. They keep making Last of the Summer Wine and releasing that. How many times can we watch Compo fall down the road in a bath and fly over a wall? So What Now with Lee Evans was released probably because Lee Evans was in it otherwise it would probably still be left in the dark. I think Rescue Me has a bit of a 50/50 audience.

I remember quite liking the chubby guy in it, but don't know his name. And wasn't there a really hot Asiany type woman in it?

The chubby guy would probably be Stewart Wright and the woman was Sasha Behar.

Signed!

My wifes family are friends of Oliver Darley (who sang the theme song)

So What Now? was great!

Didn't it concentrate more on visual gags rather than lines, though when it comes to visual jokes Lee Evans is definitely the man to do it. Don't get me wrong, I think Evans is a brilliant stand up but when it came to the sitcom I just thought it lacked somehow.

Thanks Ian and Writer2K!

It's a while since I last watched it, but yes as one would expect with Lee there was a lot based on visuals.

But Sally Phillips is wonderful though.

But Sally Phillips is wonderful though.

You can say that again. Please do.

She's great, and hot, but for some reason she always reminds me of Arthur Mullard in a blonde wig.
