Sitcom - appraisal welcome Page 8

Any one remember my Maddie Audition skit, nye on 100 posts.

Mostly calling me a sick basterd

I am real. My script is real. Why is that so hard to accept?

Honestly, and I really don't want to sound conceited, but just because my script has a fresh sound and is a bit left-field, it does not automatically make it a wind up.

So thank you to those who have responded genuinely - I will keep putting extracts up and hope to continue the decent feedback.

And you don't even mention mine!

It's the old tabloid game, of what evers the story that sells.

Yours? I feel bad to say that I think I missed this. (wait...) I've just rechecked and see no sitcom extract from you on page one. Perhaps your page is different to mine, who knows?

er...anyway...Agreed about the tabloid game - Who cares that Iran had 8 nuclear war heads doing dodgy deeds yesterday when some kid in the inner city was found with a pen knife in his pocket! you know which made the bigger news...

Oh it's a few days old, me being vain most likely.

Well, I'm going to find it now and give it a read.

It was called "sex and simulated violence"

Yeah, read it and posted some thoughts. To which you replied, so I'm not sure why I'm telling you this here...

:D

Perhaps I'm missing the point of the Critique forum but something just seems out of place here.

On the first page of this board there are four sitcom extracts put up for feedback. Currently; Afinkawan's radio script has 6 replies, glaikit's Bunker sitcom has 11 replies, KJSmyling's Seat in all Parts sitcom has 7 replies and Graham Bandage's Sunday Sunday sitcom has 14 replies.

These are four people who have put up their work to get genuine feedback.

Then we have 'The Jokes on You', which is a complete wind up and yet it has so far got 103 replies.

Am I the only one who see's this as odd?

Def.

TBH, I think that's just an indication of the fact that a lot of sitcom scripts on here don't really have much to offer/comment on, whereas TJOY - despite some jealous detractors - is both original and genuinely funny. If nothing else, it's caused controversy between the people who love it and those who think it's too radical!

Not sure there is much controversy here. Pete called it on Page 1, after I had dozily taken the bait.

So who do the panel think is behind this? One of the mods presumably, otherwise it would have been pulled.

Why isn't Bussell doing anymore comments, I liked them the most. Then Deferenz and then SootyJ.

I can assure you that it would have not.

I think this is a little unfair on the posters concerned. Everyone who puts sitcom extracts on to the critique forum, (regardless of whether they are raw beginners or at the top of their game) does so to get feedback or assitance of some form from their peers. It can be a nervous time as they do not necessarily know what people are going to say, yet they do so in the hope that the comments they receive will assist in moving their ideas or project forward.

It is indeed funny. Not sure about the jealous detractors bit. I've read all the posts and it is a mix of people playing along for the laugh and those just calling it out as a piss-take.

I have to agree with Timbo here. I don't think there is any real controversy.

The point of my original post was basically to ask why genuine calls for critque get only a few responses while a wind up gets 100 responses plus. It was sootyj who rightly mentioned the 'tabloid' attraction and he is probably right. For those that are interested it was never to slur TJOY. Even though I believe it is a wind up, it is still very amusing. In fact I even suggested some improvements for swearing on page 3 of the replies.

Which is not exactly a denial. ;)

Ok you are in danger of wandering into Spooky Mulder conspiracy nuttiness.

Moderators can't just sling people out, becuase they might be Trolls.

No, but they could restrict posters to one persona.
