Best comedy film ever? Page 5

Can't forget The Big Lebowski (unless it's already been mentioned). I've got an old VHS copy of it, and I put it on every few months, just to appreciate the brilliant dialogue. It was definately a big influence on me wanting to write.

'Santa Claus Conquers The Martians' was funny but for ALL the wrong reasons.

Angry Aagh!

EDIT - sorry, that was at David!

(Yes on both.)

The songs were good but too much of it was word for word from the film. Ruined more by the ridiculous couple behind me that chose to say each line before the actors...

I know what you mean. As much as I tried to hear nothing about it beforehand, I think my expectations were raised a bit too much. It was good, but not quite what I had expected.

And of course memories tainted, because some c**t robbed my flat whilst I was on the way home afterwards. :)

:O

Oh dear - that beats the annoying couple, hands down. :(

By the way, when I quoted that, the c word appeared in the text box in all its sweary glory! How odd.

(BTW, has anyone seen Spamalot? Did you think it was 'meh'?)

I didn't think it was great. Maybe if someone famous was in it - such as whatsisname from Goodness Gracious Me. Or I knew the songs before.

Airplane, hands down.

Closely followed by Monty Python's Life of Brian.

Life of Brian, pretty good, but Airplane... Nah, don't see it meself.

Some Like it Hot

That's more like it. A classic.

Blazing Saddles

Yep, good choice.

What about some Brit flics:

Johnny English
Maybe Baby
Arthur
Four Weddings and a Funeral
The Full Monty
Love Actually - like the concept, personally, of bringing all the pieces together.

The New St Trinians film is as good in its own right as the original films.

Pink Panther Films pretty good, too.

Not an infinate list but far better than Airplane and Police Academy, that's for sure.

Life of Brian 'pretty good', AirPlane not good, Some Like it Hot 'a classic', you need to get a grip and a funny bone. The only thing right u mentined was the Pink Panther films.

All the 'Brit Flicks' u mentioned are shit

Arthur, British?

Please Paul, 'you', not 'u'.

Evidently you have the language filter turned on. It only changes things when they're displayed, not how they're stored.

Who did you see in it then?

Four Weddings & The Full Monty are good shouts.

Other Brit movies which married the humour and the drama very well are East is East, Brassed Off and the brilliant Little Voice. Jane Horrocks is obviously amazing but, from a comedy point of view, Brenda Blethyn, Michael Caine and Jim Broadbent are sensational in that movie.

Arthur, British?

No - Arthur English!

Nice reference!

Who did you see in it then?

No idea. I don't think it was anyone famous. Sanjev Baskhar is the new one though.
