British Comedy Guide

Recommendations

Hi, I live in Canada and over the years I have grown to love British comedy, namely, British Sitcoms. I am a huge fan of Are You Being Served?, Keeping Up Appearances, Monty Python, AbFab, As Time Goes By, Black Adder, Thin Blue Line. I am looking for other sitcoms that are similar in genre to the above. Please advise, thank you.

Fawlty Towers and 'Allo 'Allo! spring to mind from those listed.

Thanks for the reply, I have been a Fawlty Towers fan for years. As for Allo Allo, I have recently seen it. Anything else? Thanks.

I'm not sure I'd class those all together but if I had to suggest similar ones, you could try:

One Foot in the Grave
Vicar of Dibley
Only Fools and Horses
The Brittas Empire

Ever Decreasing Circles :)

Rising Damp.

Rising Damp.

Or if you want to watch something good try so more modern sitcoms such as:

IT crowd, Black Books and Peep show - just a small example of some good british sitcoms

None of those three are a patch on Rising Damp.

Waiting for God
Still Game
Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em
Just Good Friends
Goodnight Sweetheart
The Good Life
Two's Company
the mentioned One Foot In the Grave and The Vicar of Dibley are among my all-time favourites.

Now this is a pretty good selection!

Do not bother with Goodnight Sweetheart. It is not funny in the least.

Fawlty Towers, Father Ted & Porridge are a big fat must though.

Noo, Goodnight Sweetheart is a good programme!

Why did The Thin Blue Line have such a short run?

Why did The Thin Blue line have such a short run?

I put it down to my prayers being answered.
