Zimbabwe's in hell

Yes it is to the tune of I know him so well, from Chess.

I worry I may be going senile, at a youngish age, I could have sworn I typed that.

Sorry

BOB

Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
Imperfect situations must go on
But this has never yet prevented me
From ruling too much for far too long

Looking back I could have played it differently
Stomped a few more voters, who can tell?
But it took time to understand my man
Now at least I know I know Zimbabwe’s in hell

NELSON

Isn’t he a hood?
(Such a hood)
Why won’t he resign?
(Oh resign)
Isn't it madness he won't resign

> But in the end he’s greedy a little shit
More than me, has more armed security
(He needs his fantasy and freedom)
I know Zimbabwe’s gone to hell

No one in your life is with you constantly
No one is completely on your side
And though I move my world to be with Zim
Still the gap between us is too wide

Looking back I could have played it differently
(Looking back I could have played things some other way)
Learned about the man before it went to hell
(I was just a little careless, maybe)
But I was ever so much imprisoned then
Now at least I know I Zimbabwe’s hell

Isn’t he a hood?
(Such a hood)
Why won’t he resign?
(Oh resign)
Isn't it madness he won't resign
RObert Mugabe and Nelson Mandela sing I Know him so well

Didn't I know
How it would go
If I knew from the start he'd steal farms for his#tart.

Isn’t he a hood?
(Such a hood)
Why won’t he resign?
(Oh resign)
Isn't it madness he won't resign

BOB

But in the end she needs a little bit
More than me, more armed security
(We need ] fantasy banned freedom)
I know Zimbabwe’s going to hell

NELSON

It took time to understand him
I know Zimbabwe’s going to hell

Is this to a particular tune?

I'm worried about my music knowledge now becuase I guessed the song and tune immediately. Flows quite well actually.

Ah, I can sort of see it now, I don't really remember how the verse goes though. But some good lyrics in there.

For some reason I had 'My Way' in my head so nothing fitted and I couldn't see anything else it went with because I already had a tune going.

Hope no one minds me bumping this, but it's about the only semi decent song I ever wrote.

I really liked it, flowed well. The only concern I have is with using Mandela, his speech is so distinctive I can't imagine him singing these lines. I think it would take a very talented performer to make it happen.

This is brilliant, soots. Really, really good.

Though:
(1) the main thing is you're making it difficult for yourself by using the word Zimbabwe. Sometimes you've got it spot on, but in the line
"Now at least I know I know Zimbabwe's in hell" you're getting twelve syllables into where there's normally only nine!
"At least we know Zimbabwe is in hell" may scan a bit better.

Also, 'I know Zimbabwe's gone to hell' needs rephrasing with less syllables.

(2) You need the term hyper-inflation in there. Not enough songs have 'hyper-inflation' in them nowadays... Best I could suggest is '(Hyper-inflationary, banned freedom)' near the end.

Great work though!

Dan
