But if everyone stops bothering to try and help/interfere it won't exactly lead to a lovely happy world will it.

Not that the alternative will either. But one has a marginally better chance.

Yeh the UN is a joke, thanks to that damn veto. US always backs Israel, and it's self. China always backs Sudan, and Zimbabwe. Means that no meaningful action ever happens, unless US decides to go all unilateral.

n.b. Mandela is 90 give the old git a break.

Gay gangsters is a favourite, as is Peter Haine is Peter Tatchell's wife.

Oh dear Lord, is he the new Idi Amin. A tin pot dictator, whose also rather funny?

Can we offer him asylum in BSG if he gives up power?

What's new? The whole of the 20th century was full of death and destruction. If governments set their minds to solving poverty, starvation, repression they could do it very swiftly. But we live in a greedy society and power and greed mean more to politicians than having a nice glow inside for helping their fellow man

Don't be so ageist.

I still say we shoot him in the face (not Mandela). Still don't know why we didn't do that to Saddam. Much easier and cheaper than a war.

I wasn't, but when I'm 90 I hope I won't be expected to topple gouvernments.

Frankly that's Mmm Mathesons the current SA Presidents job.

Quite true, sad but indeed true. Although, death and destruction was never century specific and is rearing its ugly head in the 21st C unfortunately. We're doomed!

'Cos his brother/son/cousin would have just stepped into power. The whole institution needed to be toppled for access to the oil.

Besides, Sadam wasn't actually doing anything at the time to warrant it.

Why do we expect South Africa to do anything? It is afraid of a civil war in Zimbabwe and refugees flooding into SA

He had a crap mustache.

And I hear vague rumours he was being rather murdery.

None of these places are capable of governing or controling themselves. We shouldn't have let the Empire collapse.

He was a little more than a very naughty boy I believe
