Would Till Death Us Do Part get an airing today? Page 7

I mean this point.

I get that they weren't saying oh aren't racist people lovely.

But as someone said, it was of its time. Why do we need to see that show again? We have shows now that aren't 'politically correct' (to some) that deal with the same issues. And demonstrate them for people now.

I know it's been a decade since this comment, but it's quite a ridiculous one to make.

Why do we need to see ANY comedy again, just because it was 'of a time' that certain things were acceptable.

Man alive, if we followed your view, even sitcoms broadcast in the last few years wouldn't get a second chance.

I fear it will be a very long time before Till Death is repeated on TV and it will be just as long before an even remotely similar modern sitcom is produced. The problem is that, before you can knock down an argument, you have to say what the argument is that you're going to knock down. Accordingly, before you can begin to mock racist and bigoted views, you have to put those very views in front of the audience in order that they know what it is you're mocking.

Sadly, in this ultra-ultra-ultra-PC society, that is not going to happen.

Till death us do part's Royal command performance.
When gentle ribbing of the Royal family began.
