Who was the greatest Dr of them all? Page 4

The McCoy episodes are actually better than most people remember. I watched them all recently, and his 2nd and 3rd series were actually quite good. Though they would have been better than that if the scripts & directors had played to his strengths.

Agreed, and Ace is one of the few companions from the old series who would have fitted in to the new series.

It would be great to see Ace in the new series, we could find out what happened to her after the end of the original run.

Dr Thompson. He's my doctor. He's got cold rough hands and diagnoses everything by inserting a spatular up the your bottom. Heaven :D

I know Zooo will be with me on this one.
David Tennant :)

Is this a young Harold Shipman?

You don't watch 30 Rock?

Just like Colin Baker, McCoy greatly improved later in the still-ongoing Big Finish stories.

Of course, maybe not being seen helps...

Difficult to compare Hartnell, as the dynamics of the show was so different; the Doctor had not yet emerged as a hero figure.

Troughton, Pertwee and Baker T. were all oddballs who played themselves, which is exactly what you want in a Doctor.

Baker C. looked like he was trying too hard to be eccentric.

Davison was just wet. He looked like a cricketing vicar.

McCoy was weird enough but could not actually act.

McCann played the role as action hero and was not really a Doctor at all.

Eccleston was just too square and when he tried to be all twinkly it just did not come off.

Tennant gurns too much, but he is reassuringly odd.

Tom Baker shades it for me.

Best Doctor who never was: Nicholas Le Prevost.

My vote goes to Tom Baker - but I still think Mr Bean would make a good Dr Who

Some of Sylvester McCoy's stories were excellent little serials. They started to hint at the Doctor's darkside, but unfortunately the series got axed before they got very deep.

Havent read this yet, though I will as a big Who geek, but Im going to be perhaps controversial and say Sylvester McCoy; we was MY Doctor and, I think, unfairly maligned. He got some of the best ever stories and I loved the way the writers were taking his characterisation.

Aw, bless you.
Saying Tom Baker is boring.
I like it when people choose McCoy.
