Thoughts please?
Thatcher. The Iron Lady
SCUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(According to my Dad and many other people his age from my area)
Oh No!
Our only female PM and our longest serving PM so she was.
When I close my eyes and try to get an image of her, the Spitting Image version appears...
My Dad says she was a bitch. But she was really good at getting publicity shots done. I don't know how far that influences opinion.
My history teacher says she was like Elizabeth I, and so people used to put them on a par to criticise the former. That's all I know!
Hmm she basically has the same polices as Gordon Brown, except more driven, and less incompetent.
Some stuff was just vicious like destroying the British Mining industry, and the poll tax.
But as a care manager, the stuff she did with Care in the Community was breath taking in it's effectiveness.
Not to mention the GCSE, which opened education upto millions who were shut out by outdated O levels.
And channel 4 proof that station could be public/private funded.
My God I'm a Thatcherite socialist, I feel very consfused.
Oh and she won the cold war, which would still be going on today, if not for her.

Magaret Thatcher The Milk Snathcer. I still lol at that whenever I hear it. (Taking away the right to free school milk for small children). She did have a budget to work to though
I admire her greatly. My dad hates her all the way down to her bone marrow.
Only two things do I admire about this woman.
1) She was strong and determined.
2) She broke the crippling power of the unions.
Ah, Mrs T - I look forward to her being in the news again because it probably means she's dead, and I've vowed to have a celebratory drink that night.
Why do more men hate her than women.
She drums up more hatred than Hitler does.
She was an economic illiterate whose monetarist policies were sending the country down the crapper, and who would have been voted out at the next election if her equally incompetent foreign and defence policies had not resulted in an unnecessary war, which we only won because the Argentine pilots did not bother to read the instructions that came with their exocet missiles. Then North Sea oil came on tap and bailed out her and every succeeding prime-minister (well apart from Major who got turned over by the money markets). The oil is now down to last dregs and Brown's consumer credit bubble has burst. The recession starts here.
Oh, and as for breaking the power of the Unions, which needed doing, yes she did, but at a hell of a price. It is just a shame that Callaghan had not backed Barbara Castle when she had tried to do the same thing.
And you people really should watch Andrew Marr's History of Modern Britain. You don't know who you are unless you know where you came from.
Rant over. (I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread.)
Joining me for that drink on the glorious day, Timbo?
