Ah, well they were still only stating what they'd observed, not trying to bolster any blame!
Do we pull out of Afghanistan? Page 7
Sounds like it was inferred by what they were saying. The US basically took control of D-Day, Eisenhower was in charge and a lot of the US Generals did not like Montgomery .. especially Patton. So there would be animosity between the troops thus colouring their judgement of events. That's my view anyhoo
Quote: Curt @ June 20 2008, 12:24 AM BSTGod I hate reading American neo-conservative posts about these types of topics. Never rational only hard headed reactionary responses makes it difficult for me to agree when there are points that I do agree with, like the overall mission in Afghanistan.
Really one of the reasons I like these forums so much is because there is usually none of this American "I know so much because I'm so patriotic" crap.
I think that's the first time I've ever been called a neo-con. My friends would laugh their heads off and some of them lean so far left that they have difficulty walking in a straight line.
I think my points have been quite rational. As for my assertion that Al Qaeda and their ilk want to destroy me, my family and my country, just do a little light reading. Osama and his brethren have been spouting that crap long before George W. came on the scene. I can't see how it can be seen as a neo-con smokescreen when the words pour from their lips day in and day out.

Thank God for the Daily Show.

Unfortunately his brethren (Family) were in business with George W in Texas right up until 9/11?

And we both know that I was speaking of his terrorist buddies and not Osama's actual family which had already disowned him.

Goodnight Mr C.
night Mr B - glad to see you have sorted the avatar
I'm out of here as well. Time to visit my daughter in the hospital.
Cheers, everyone.
A much better look, I feel.
Quote: Charley @ June 19 2008, 9:29 PM BSTI am lucky. My boy is 21. A baby in my eyes but no 16 year old kiddie.
I have heard positive stories of boys turning their life around thanks to the army & I have heard negative ones. I will never agree that a 16 year old knows his own mind enough to understand what he is actualy signing up for.
You can die *for your country* but you're considered too young to enjoy a beer. Go figure!
(*that's another debate)
