I have an agent... sort of Page 3

thank you guys for your help. i was researching them and read that they charge a retainer because they're also a law firm, i still dont trust them though. i am new to the scriptwriting field but ive been writing for a long time, beginners and experienced writers make mistakes but im enjoying writing this script so much that i havent let this experience phase me, im continuing to write the episodes while i find an agent. thanks again for your help.

I really wouldn't worry about agents at this stage of your career.

Concentrate on the people who can really make it happen - producers.

Agents want writers, not people who want to be writers. (I've nicked that line from someone - Robin Kelly? - so apologies there!)

Thanks for the tip, makes sense. do you know where i can find names of production companies that produce dramas? i know theres a list of companies who produce comedies/sitcoms on here.

It's not productions companies per se, it's people you need to be looking for.

You need to find someone who matches your work/style.

Good luck!

thanks once again.

In agreement with most people here, I'm afraid. No agent should charge you up front to represent you. And you don't need an agent until you're on the threshold of actually achieving something with what you've written. I'm probably signing with an agent in the near future (if at least one of my irons in the fire pans out the way it looks like it will). This will be an agent recommended to me by the main producer I work with, who has been requested by said agent to bring her up-and-coming writers.

Just try and concentrate on your writing and trying to get it out to producers.
