All About Me.
Sitcoms intending to highlight an issue but failed Page 2
Yes - terrible!

To be honest I lost interest in EXtras series 2, but I saw the episodes with the disabled boy and with Warwick Davis, and that to me seems a misrepresentation. In the first case the whole point was that Andy did not know the boy was disabled, there was no question of anyone laughing at the disability, and in the second, well I can't recall the point, but Warwick Davis is a big enough name to be capable of looking after himself. The Andy Millman character was not someone who would laugh at someone for being spastic, a midget or black, the humour, such as it was, would be more to do with social embarrassment as the result of his overcompensating.
It was other people saying stupid things to people (to Samuel L Jackson etc) much of the time, not Andy.
The Vicar of Dibley episode that they used a vehicle for Make Poverty History completely missed the target IMHO, being broadcast a week after the tsunami.

I was really annoyed at that part in the episode. I have nothing against good causes and giving to charity but do not mix a campaign with a sitcom. In my opinion it just looked so false and just plain out of place. If you want the Vicar and co to be involed then do a campaign seperately, but don't put it in one of the actual episodes.
Can you tell I am not happy about this??
Def.
I've ranted enough about it previously, but will just add that I found it utterly abhorrent to stick that in the middle of a sitcom.
At the end of the sitcom. The only episode not to have a joke at the end, just an internet video highlighting how awful poverty is. It certainly surprised me. It was a decent attempt to send an important message out. It was very unexpected. Can't decide whether it was a good decision or a bad one.

I'm actually very surprised. How can you, someone who loves sitcom so much, accept a show being raped rather viguourously, in order to push the writer's own personal one-issue charity/beliefs? It's nothing new for a show to have a point of some kind, but so openly and shamelessly?
Nah it was sentimental shit
Omg Aaron, I never expected you to believe me

Hit the nail on the head there.
