1980s US comedy films Page 7

They were great, and the Indy films.

And aaall the John Cusack films of the 80s are flipping fantastic.

Grosse Point Blank was a great movie- not the 80's I know but it did have the Cusack in it

Yeah, that's one of my favourite films!

Okay, after much wracking of the crinkly matter, I finally came up with a good one. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Spinal Tap.

Though you will note that they had to pretend to be English in order to achieve funny.

No matter how much people rave about Spinal Tap I still find the Comic Strip Bad News/More Bad News to be far funnier

Spinal Tap? Dear Lord, when will there be a new series of Two Pints? Please!

Spinal Tap goodness:

[Nigel is playing a soft piece on the piano]
Marty DiBergi: It's very pretty.
Nigel Tufnel: Yeah, I've been fooling around with it for a few months.
Marty DiBergi: It's a bit of a departure from what you normally play.
Nigel Tufnel: It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.
Marty DiBergi: It's very nice.
Nigel Tufnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of...
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

The first time I watched Spinal Tap, I wasn't that impressed. However, repeated viewings have shown that I was wrong first time round.

I have to say I think all the other Christopher Guest films are shit, with the exception of The Princess Bride, which i think he only acted in and he's a good enough comedy actor.

Another to add to my short list of watchable 80s US Comedy films:

It's growing quite rapidly though, isn't it.

Most other decades and I would be into treble figures by now...

How old is Timbo?
(Just general ballpark)

Old enough to remember the 80s and shudder...
