I had to double check I wasn't seeing things the other day when I read that the Channel 5 show Surburban Shootout had been sold to 26 countries! 26! Imagine if you write a decent show for the Beeb.
Any other stats on any of our shows being sold abroad?
I suppose the idea can work anywhere. Now maybe not so with a decent show.
Are they going to be showing the British version, or making their own versions of the show?
Well the essential idea of the show is pretty cool. I can see why they'd all like it.
They've cast Judi Greer (Arrested Development) in it as well.
It's easier to flog high concept shows, hence the global success of things like 24 and Lost. I guess this is why Suburban Shootout found a market, despite not being very good.
