Introduction + Random Questions

Hello everyone,

I am Nathan. Please call me Nathan or Shepka as that is my user name and also my second name. I have a couple of questions I would like to ask and hope to recieve a variety of responses and opinions so please just muck in!!!

Okay first of all. Does anyone have any pictures from the most recent series of Last of the Summer Wine? Can anyone confirm whether they are going to make more or not and when they will be filmed and are likely to air and to anyone who has seen the most recent episodes, are they as good as the ones with Compo, Clegg and Foggy and is the old magic still there with the usual stunts or is it very different now.

Second and last. Does anyone have any photos from the new series of My Family (Series 8) and are the episodes any good or is it a spent force.

Hello Shepka, welcome to the forums. I can't answer your questions, sorry. But I can tell you about the Introduction forum where you can formally introduce yourself.

There will be a new series of Last of the Summer Wine. The new ones are really poor, but loved the old ones greatly. Here is my opinion of the show:
Series 1-7: Absolutely superb. The show's prime. Series' 1 and 2 starring Michael Bates as Cyril Blamaire as the first 'third man'. Classic episodes from these series include: The New Mobile Trio, The Changing Face of Rural Blamaire, and A Quiet. Then series 3 Foggy came and was just as good as Cyril Blamaire. The two-parter in series 3 episodes where they went to Scarbourgh were by far the best episodes of Summer Wine. Quality was great for the next few series. At the end of series 7 came the brilliant feature length special Getting Sam Home.

Series 8-21: Many cast changes and mostly for the worst. The great northern talk comedy had sadly been diluted and more slapstick added; not a good decision in my opinion. Great characters such as Sid had gone and less funny ones such as Howard came. Still a very good show though.

Series 21 onwards: Well passed its steam. Most episodes awful.
