How would I go about pitching it to CBBC? It's not a cartoon, it would involve real people.
I've just had an idea for a kid's programme
ideas can get nicked...and do

I've got experience in this area but I'll tell you now you're in for disappointment.
Getting stuff onto CBBC is the most difficult thing in writing. It's probably easier to get a show on primetime, than CBBC.
They don't even read scripts anymore, just one page outlines for shows (obviously only from producers and agents like normal) So you've got get the idea across without writing a single word of dialogue.
On top of that they only look at show idea twice a year, so it's like a bear pit of ideas - and that's just writers with experience etc. Any novices / people starting out will struggle to get stuff into the mix. Virtually impossible.
My first script was a kid's show, and I nearly got it as far being put to CBBC along with a script editor, but it didn't work out.
Arguably the writing competition is more fierce than for standard sitcoms and sketches.
I always thought CBBC stuff would be nice way in, but it's sodding hard and it's an avenue I've discounted.
Now as it stands I HAVE got my script/one page idea thing to the development people thanks to a fortuitous contact but I don't expect it to go anywhere (mainly because a similar idea has just been commissioned) but I was hoping it might alert producers there looking for writers. But unlikely.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Seefacts.
I would've thought CBBC would be desperate for new ideas! The other day my sister was watching it and it was a puppet worm singing So Lonely. I just left the room.
