Hooray for miserablist early 80s BBC scifi Page 6

Good old Kolchack, it was like COLumbo took a shit load of mescaline and started seeing monsters every where.

And those shows from the 80s may have been technically primitve but were morally super advanced.

And I don't think Blake's 7 has been mentioned, which was amazing. If only for Avon, Villa and the supersexy Servalan. Although the new Sky remake will be shite.

Blake 7 now wasn't that a moody show?

Poor old Blake he was accused of being a kidy fiddler wasn't he?

I don't remember that! But I haven't gone back and watched it since I was a kid.

I think you get that with a lot of the older shows. Nowadays everything has to be fast paced and hook the viewer in right away, back then they could be a bit more leisurely. If I remember rightly, the entire first episode of The Triffids involves John Duttine in a hospital room with bandages over his eyes.

Yah and how many epsiodes of Survivors were about irrigation, and goat milking?

They all had to have rubber rats though.

Any one remember the sitcom that mocked Survivors?

It might already have been mentioned, but they're remaking Survivors, aren't they?

And on the subject of miserabilist Sci-Fi, forgot to mention The 4400 and The Dead Zone, which are both okay shows in that modern tradition.

They're remaking the Prisoner on ITV soon, sounds cool.

Maybe it'll be all 24 stylee and they'll waterbaord number 6 and make him wank infront of Una Stubbs (is she dead?)
