Anyway, is New Orleans rebuilt now?
The touristy area (the French Quarter) was basically high and dry during Katrina and business seems to be back to normal. Most visitors never see any sign of damage. The surrounding areas will take a decade to rebuild.
My hometown in Florida took a direct hit from Hurricane Charley (145 MPH winds - same as Katrina) in 2004 and is still rebuilding. Every school I attended was destroyed and most of my friends and families lost at least part of their house. But the crazy Irish pub owner stayed open the entire time, even though they had no electricity for a week and the top of the building was no longer intact. There are probably videos of it on YouTube.
Ok, off to the airport to visit my again-girlfriend in Florida ...
