Get Well Soon

This popped into my head but I've no idea how to use it. I might save it for if I ever get round to writing a sitcom.

Right. I've edited it. The orignal version is down the bottom.

SUE: You're not seriously thinking of giving Jeff a get well soon card?

KAREN: Why on Earth not?

SUE: (EXASPERATED) Karen, it's his funeral!

And the original...

SUE: You're not seriously thinking of giving Jeff a get well soon card?

KAREN: Why on Earth not?

SUE: (EXASPERATED) Karen, he's got AIDS!

It's a great idea, but AIDS is an odd one (lots of articles on people living long lives with various treatments etc).

Maybe he just got married?

Hmmm. No I think it's got to be something he is obviously going to die from. I can't think of much else except AIDS unless you put the word 'terminal' on the front of the disease which I think would ruin it too. Oh well.

You'd could say a week to live?

Being pedantic, people don't actually die from AIDS but they do from cancer - quite quickly in some cases. Equally emotive

Lost his head in a yachting accident?

Has Downs Syndrome (or Global Learning Disbaility to be less offensive).

Is really ugly?

True but they never recover from it, whereas some people recover from cancer. I was aiming at the social protocool of giving 'get well soon' cards to people, contrasted with something that he obviously wasn't going to get well soon from. It was just a random idea and one which apparently doesn't really work.

Oh it's a good idea, but it's the fine detial that can make all the difference.

Edited.

Now that works really well.

I preferred the concept of aids actually. It being his funeral isn't as funny as the fact that he's about to die and receives the card. A dead man cannot read a get well card anyway. I agree with the comments that aids isn't the right illness to give him, but any serious, deadly, soon to pass on, illness would do :)
