I'm not doing Red Planet this year. I thought I had a good idea but it turns out it's already been done and I couldn't think of a good twist.

I wouldn't worry. They've all been done. You've got nothing to lose and you never know.

I can't get every1sacritic website....is it my PC?

Update:

"While you wait for us to sift through 300+ entries to the Sitcom Trials, why not enter our competition within a competition? No prize, but look on it as a comedy writing warm-up. The best entries will appear on our website."

Is it a joke David?

I think that may be someone's actual entry.

Obviously impossible to stage under the constraints of the setting.

It was sent to me via email by Simon. I suspect he's venting some steam having read a couple of hundred "Then the voliciraptor eats the two hundred ninjas then blasts off in the space ship" scripts. Mine included.

Well, I submitted three all studio based so I hope I'm in with a chance :D

Friday evening at 11.15 I thought I'd enter another one - but I ran out of time.

:D that's pushing it a bit.
I think I've boobed with this comp.
I've just read the more recent blogs of Simon and one says some entrants sent the 2nd or 3rd episode of their sitcom. In the early days of this comp I understood that they wanted 15mins of a sitcom and if it went down well with the audience, they then saw the next 15 mins of it.
Later on the rules said they wanted a complete 15mins that could be staged so I then wrote two 15mins complete sitcoms....15mins only.
Which is correct? A full 30 mins and if they like the first 15 mins you send the rest...or a 15mins complete, no more is to hand as it is a complete story but could obviously be developed if a winner? :O

I believe it's a complete 15 min story. I even emailed Simon before I started writing to confirm that fact. I've never read anything to the contrary either.

ok thanks David, it must be me being thick :D

Yeah, it's 15-minute complete standalone sitcom. If you get through you have to extend it by 5 minutes, then 5 minutes again in the subsequent round. And I mean extend by fleshing out and adding a scene or two, rather than just adding 5 minutes at the end.

Dan

"Stage left seated at the entrance to his grotto is SANTA; on his knee two ACHINGLY BEAUTIFUL Spanish 4 YEAR-OLD TWINS. (Note: They speak in Spanish, but their speech appears as subtitles)."

That's my favourite bit. :D

I worry that twins snipe is an attack on my own entry. No wait, I excised them from the stage draft.

Carry on.

Cock burn!!!!

bushbaby I've done the same thing. But thanks for bringing it to my attention. Now when I don't get through, rather than having the the sad realisation that I'm not actually funny, I can delude myself that it's just that I can't follow simple rules.
