How many back up copies? Page 4

It seems that you do not think your stuff is of any significant value.

Soooooo.... you got nothing. Right you got to love people with irrational fears of Macs. Perhaps IT guys are scared they would loose work if more people used Macs. Meanwhile I'll keep using a product that has yet to fail me after 9 years.

Try SyncToy. Free from Microsoft.

I use SyncToy, it works really well.

I have my scripts on my desktop, my laptop and a USB key thing - SyncToy makes sure they're all up to date. It would be a bad day indeed if all three copies were lost or damaged.

I always e-mail myself stuff, on one of my numerous e-mail accounts.

My genius is out there floating in cyber space.

Is there any danger of your mailbox becoming full?

Yes but I like danger!

I also have an enormous box, that see's a lot of action.

Too obvious, too cheap ... no, I'll leave the punchline for someone else.

Nah, briefcase is there in XP Home.

Ah, ok. Years since I've used that too.

His comment had nothing to do with Macs. Don't be so paranoid! Unless, of course, you secretly know that Macs are poo. ;)

When Macs go bad, they go really bad. Like Methodist ministers.

Laughing out loud

When Macs go bad.

TV show right there...

Just spotted this one...

I use a flash drive every other day, a Yahoo Breifcase for various drafts and Norton 360 automatic backup once a week...

.... oh.... and cd's for photo's etc...

Thank god we don't have to rely on floppy disks any more, that's all I can say. I made four backup copies of an essay for uni once and every one of the disks broke in some way, or just wouldn't open the file.
I just use my dvd drive now, when I can be asked.

With storing in emails though, isn't that a bit risky? Seeing as they delete accounts after so long if you don't use them, so you are always risking forgetting about them and losing everything in them?

That's why I use a Yahoo Briefcase... they do shut down unused email accounts butnot the Briefcase that goes with them.

Do e-mail providers still actually do that? I thought it was a practice forgotten the best part of a decade ago. I'm sure Google don't. Sign yourself up for a Gmail account if you haven't already. It's a great service.
