Roy Hodgson - fantastic sportsman

I just thought I'd like to say what a great sport Roy Hodgson is. His Fulham team survived relegation yesterday in what has to be the greatest ever Premiership escape. In his post-match interview, Hodgson didn't say how delighted he was that he had managed to pull of a truly brilliant miracle- but on how he sends his thoughts out to Alex McCleish and Steve Coppell, two managers who were relegated yesterday. What a great manager Hodgson is. Not a Fulham supporter, but think they deserve alot of credit.

Well its easier to say that when you've stayed up. Steve Coppell praised Fulham and he went down so credit to him.

Could you imagine Ferguson praising anyone who beats him though?

He'd criticise the ref, the pitch, the colour of the ball, the weather, not being allowed do "play" the lack of penalties given to his precious young synchronised diving team etc.

Your anti-Utd rants are ace.

You REALLY must hate them. That last 16 years of top flight football must have mostly been a total bind to watch.

As this is a comedy site, any chance these football bits could be made at all humorous?

The two are incompatible.

Pah, you and hating football - get a room.

The funniest football-related story I've ever heard, was that Brazilian legend Garrincha once admitted to losing his virginity to a goat.

Jossys Giants - one of my favourite shows as a child. A lovely blend of football and comedy.

And if anyone says otherwise I will put my fingers in my ears and not take them out until they've stopped :)

Every football discussion just seems to end up with an anti-United rant- purely out of jealousy. Do agree though Ferguson doesn't take defeat well, but certainly not as bad as Arsene Wenger or Gareth Southgate. But nobody mentions them though because it is not United.

DIVING TEAM. Correct me if I'm wrong Dave, you're a Chelsea fan aren't you, and Drogba is by far the worst diver I've ever seen. Rate him very highly as a striker, he is very talented, but he is a cheat. As least when Ronaldo goes down he goes down because contact has been made on him.

Fergie always congratulates opponents, chappers has obviously got selective memory as Fergie made the united team give Chelsea a guard of honour at OT a few seasons ago.

Correct Contains Nuts. It seems very evident to me that Dave Chapman is a good football fan, just talks a lot of bollocks because he has a bee in his bonet about United. For goodness sake Dave, grow up. If you're going to get involved in football based threads then don't just get talking about how much you hate United, talk honestly about the game. I haven't got a problem with Chelsea. I respect Avram Grant and think he is a great manager. Now Dave, you obviously know Ferguson is a great manager but you just have a bitter streak in you and can't bring yourself to say it.

I agree. You'd think by now that Drogba would have mastered the art.

All he has to do is watch Rooney and Ronaldo (who had that hit "Save your love") who do it almost perfectly.

I am a West Ham fan so i'm obviously biased, but I think you could easily argue that our escape last season was better than Fulham's this season. Fulham have a terrible habit of getting incredibly lucky towards the end of the season.

Agree with this though. Also I would like to extend the Fulham appreciation to Jimmy Bullard for being a great player and character.

In fact since we're appreciating nice guys in football what about Martin Laursen? He bought 3200 Aston Villa shirts for their away contingent on Sunday. They were bought as a thank you for the fan's support, a nice gesture even if it was a tiny cost compared to his wages.

Your escape last year was totally illegal.

Nothing to do with Trevor Brooking being so influential at the FA.
