Is Rory Bremner the most underrated man in Comedy? Page 2

And no, I don't believe that satire HAS to be amusing. It just has to point out the ridiculities of 'establishment' (or whatever else it's looking at). 99% of the time the best way to do this is through humour. And even when not intended specifically to be humourous, people may very well laugh as they realise how freaking stupid something is.

Well, I'm happy for the term "satire" to remain ambiguous.

I'm pretty sure BB&F are aiming to be funny though. (And to be fair, they very often are.)

It's certainly clarified my thinking on the matter. In future, if I find something unfunny, it's not a dud, it's satire ... ;) Time to put the roast on http://18th.eserver.org/swift-modest.txt

Sad to see Bremner doing some terrible Numberwang type of afternoon quiz show with a set that looks like its borrowed from Tron. And he is just as bad.

He looks like Rory Bremner doing an impression of a slightly camp bad quiz show host. But he's not or else he would be quite good, perhaps he should do his Bob Monkhouse.

I think almost five years is exactly the right amount of time to make a considered response :)

There's a lot of Griff on this thread.
