Being thin may well cause problems for some people trying to make it as a footballer, then again, you'd think being short would also be a problem, but many of the world's greatest footballers were really small men, e.g. Maradona, Romario, Baggio, Zola, Muller, Zico, Puskas, Owen, Greaves, Matthews, Juniniho, Papin, Robbie Fowler (he was great once, remember?), Beardsley, Brady, Abedi Pele (the Ghanaian, not the Brazilizn. Then again, even the Brazilian Pele was only 5ft 9"), Mattheaus, Ockocha, Carlos, Scholes, Hagi, Kinkladze, Del Piero, Davids, Overmars, Dalgleish, Keegan, Ball, Nevin (okay, Pat Nevin wasn't as great as the others, but he was my favourite player, when I was a kid) - I don't think any of these players were over 5ft 8".
Why is it called Football though when most of the time they throw it or run around holding it in their hands?
Because they're stupid.

Shit! You were talking about being too thin for AMERICAN football, and I wasted about 20 minutes thinking up all of those names, thinking you were talking about our version of football!!

What a ridiculous comment. Why perpetuate a truly lazy stereotype?
It's true, they do not have the same academic qualifictions as people who have gone through the education system in it's entirety. Essentially, they begin fulltime work at around 15/16 years of age. However, anyone who only measures intelligence in terms of academic qualifications is an absolute knob - and for the record, I have a First Class degree and am also studying for an MA.

Because it's largely true.
Come on! Stop being such a Daily Mail reader!
Nothing wrong with reading the Daily Mail.
There is something very wrong with reading the Daily Mail.

Never noticed what a great/apt acronym that makes

And the rest of the world outside N America's!
I was watching some football in the pub, and the barmaid said "I don't know anything about football, I support Man Utd." I offer her remark here, without comment.

Because this is supposed to be a comedy site.

Better than being a Guardian reader.
I just look at the pictures in the Sun.
Oh well, fifteen days to go and Manchester United will be in another Champions League Final. I've not been able to concentrate at work all week trying to come up with my Manchester United line-up, but I have decided on what starting eleven I will come up with. With so many unsurities with the Barca team (Iniesta, Henry), I can't come up with a starting line up for them, but this is what I would go for if I was Alex Ferguson.
I would operate a 4-4-2 operation
01. Edwin Van Der Sar
22. John O'Shea
05. Rio Ferdinand
15. Nemanja Vidic
03. Patrice Evra
07. Cristiano Ronaldo
16. Michael Carrick
11. Ryan Giggs
13. Ji-Sung Park
10. Wayne Rooney
32. Carlos Tevez
Subs:
12. Ben Foster
21. Rafael Da Silva
23. Jonny Evans
08. Anderson
17. Luis Nani
18. Paul Scholes
09. Dimitar Berbatov.
Anyone agree/disagree with that?
