Another BBC Scheme launched Page 5

I'm stalling a bit on this. Deadline on Monday and I was doing so well. Too many distractions.

They've decided the final twenty by June 30th, so it does strike me as yet another massively rushed decision process. That said, I've enjoyed writing something stand alone with more drama in, and I think I'll flesh my script out to feature length.

They're only accepting 'hard copies' so unless anyone can deliver their script in person on Monday morning the deadline is effectivley tomorrow (to give the good old Royal Mail chance to deliver it to them). You also need to register online & send the eMail they send you with your script. Seems a strange process to me.

I'm presently editing back from approx 42 pages to the required 'max 35'.

Graaaah!

I've only just worked out that the reason I couldn't do the online application was because of mentioning a BBC producer called 'John Pocock' -the motherf**king swear filter had a problem with the 'cock' in his name.

Now it's too late to get it in the post (when did sunday posts discontinue? Why did no one tell me this?)

Do you think if I send it by bike courier they'll immediately dismiss me as a fancypants? I can't even drop it off in person cause I go on holiday tomorrow.

I say again, GRAAAAAHHHH!

We havea sunday collection at the box outside our post ofice if that's any help....

Perhaps not eh?

I wonder why people leave things until the very last moment, therefore leaving no time for a plan B

As my plan B is always set fire to the house and claim the insurance money, that is a blessing.

I posted mine Friday lunchtime and the deadline is midday Monday so hopefully....

To answer you question BB I'm afraid it's just the way it is. I always leave everything 'til the last minute - oh except for....

Also trying to do too many things doesn't help, I'm no good at planning - and the adrenalin rush at the end helps.

I have booked the time off - just in case!

I hope you used first class...teehee

Even (current version of) recorded post!

Because BB, I couldn't fill out the damn online form, because it had a hair-trigger sensitive swear filter and it took an extremely long time to work out it had a problem with a perfectly innocent surname - by then it was too late to post the hard copy with the necessary code thing.

Anyway, I paid a small fortune to get it couriered and got the receipt saying they'd got it the other day so no harm done except to my bank account.

I had an email acknowledgement that they'd received it, then another one saying they hadn't - then one saying they'd sent that by mistake. Then they tried to recall one.

I haven't heard anything since so I guess I haven't qualified.

I never got an eMail saying they'd received mine. Doh! Perhaps I'd left it too late after all(did you ask for an acknowledgment?)

With every comp I vow not to leave it until the last minute to submit, even if it’s a script I’ve already written and fits in with the remit (there’s always time for just a touch more editing), and every time I fail submitting it a few days before the deadline!

However this time I didn’t think my script really fitted with ‘The Health of The Nation’ theme (it just depends how broad they considered the subject to be).

Same here - I just sent in a script i was pleased with with and hoped there was enough in it to qualify. I doubt they'd ignore good writing just because it's not an episode of Holby. But if they do then hey ho, they've at least read it.

According to the site they're contacting the last of the successful applicants today, so you never know.

I really enjoyed writing my entry, and with a bit of tweaking I think it'll make a really offbeat sitcom script.
