Car wash sketch. Page 2

Hmm sorry Steven have to disagree, it ain't very funny. It has potential, but it needs some sort of a twist or surprise, otherwise it's way to predictable.

Excellent series. I live close to where the series was filmed and the house where Les Mcqueen lived was actually my house.

Oh and before anyone tells me i realise that wasn't very funny either, i just felt the need to pass it on.

This is a good sketch. i guess you have to be me, and be able to visualise the 4 men who have appeared from nowhere and are manically smiling down at the man as they clean the windscreen.
Which i suppose is a critique problem. Unless the sketch posted is gag related or its hard to appreciate the writers vision.

But trust me, in my head the canned laughter is almost tangible. I'll guess i'll just have to keep persevering until you all eventually manage to catch up.

After reading this comment, it is funnier in my head than when I first read it, imagining them from out of no where.

I worry about people not finding what I've written funny because of not seeing the characters as I see them in my head, as well, and I think that this can be true. Though, it might also be true, that some people just don't find this funny.

I'm surprised you're so confident that "this is a good sketch". Is there such a thing? I thought it more subjective...

Rebecca if the writer of the sketch can't visualise it being funny then there is really no point posting it. I would imagine everybody who has posted a sketch see's it the same way. Its just that bad critiques tend to fill the writer with doubts.

Of course sometimes they just aren't funny. Fortunately or unfortunately, i have an ego the size of a large suitcase so its pretty hard to knock my beliefs.

And to be fair, griff has a point.

Obviously all writers believe, (or have at some point believed) that the sketches they write are funny, otherwise they would never get written. However, offering one up for critique when your only response to negativity is "This sketch is good.", seems a little pointless. If you were not open to suggestions, surely the only reason to post a sketch, would be for your already oversized ego to hear praise?

I completely agree that some critiquing on here, does more harm than good. So believe it or not, I applaud your ego!

This is funnier than the sketch.
