Interested to know how life is for a new comedy writer accross the pond. How easy it is to submit, whether production companies take unsolicited scripts etc. Is there an established way into TV writing?
Any American Writers on Here?
Didn't fred Barron come here because he was having trouble getting stuff off the ground over in America? Although there are a lot of big writer-hungry shows over there, the market for getting sitcoms developed is even more cuthroat than here.
the one thing i have noticed over there is how developed web comedy is - the onion, collegehumour etc. there's plenty of examples of very successful webistes, with a crew of writers/ film makers, producing very decent comedy.
Do we have any similar funny comedy websites in this country?
not really. or at least not operating at the same level i.e with a team of full time writers and producers. maybe i'm wrong. the ones there are, over here, have been set up by production companies e.g. warner and comedybox. but they're minnows compared to the american sites.
