I thought that said 'ducks'. I was a little bemused...

Dan

I'd like to see the ducks version. Ducks on drugs. Btw there are gang raping ducks outside me house. Maybe they're on crack...

It's March of the Mallards all over again...

:D

Actually they're Aylesburys...

Then, they're not so brutal... (on the big scale of rape that there is)

Dan

Any Wire first-timers who gave it a go last night?

Bit late for me. I have recorded and will watch at some point this week. Will probably come on here raving about it and how the ducks were the best thing.

Dan

Well don't forget they're showing an episode a day - and it's not a show where you can just drop into one episode and expect to know what's going on if you haven't seen previous episodes.

Just saying.

Yeah, I'm quite anal in that respect, in that I won't watch a series if I've missed the one before.

PDR's set up to record them all anyway!

*snigger*

Watched the first two episodes yesterday. Very good and I can see where they're going (and why potentially it's so good). Not fantastic yet (understandably) but very good.

Dan

All 5 series are brilliant. My friend's brother was the technical consultant on the show, and he raved about the entire experience. There's a good interview on NPR with the show's co-creator, David Simon. See NPR SITE

That IS a good interview.

I watched the first episode of this last night. I was slightly confused as to what was happening.

There is some kind of drug ring and the police are trying to bring it down. I kind of enjoyed the first episode, but have mixed feelings about watching the 2nd tonight. Do you recommend that I stick with it?

I've just finished watching all three seasons of Dexter which was superb.

Stick it out. It's worth it.

I'd refer you back to one of my earlier posts:

.
For any first timers looking to get into it, 'be patient' is good advice. This is a series that builds slowly - by the third or fourth episode you'll be well into it and totally hooked.

Whereas in many cop shows (if The Wire can be called a cop show) one case lasts one episode, The Wire stretches its one case to last 12ish episodes, so the detail in it is incredible.

The language might be a little hard to cope with at first (both slang and 'colourfulness'), but do bear with it. Keep eyes and ears open - it's such a rewarding watch.

So do stick with it Mike!
