British Comedy Guide

Minimalist

I've been experimenting with reductionist humour.

A pencil animated scene. 2 Men stand in an room, a hilarious, but surprising accident has happened. We don't see it, but can assume it's hilarious. It's silent, but commentary is provided.

Man1
Sorry

Man2
He was a stupid man.

Yep, there's a definite reduced humour feel about this :P

I don't often find myself saying this (at least with comedy) but I just don't get this. Is it for stage? TV? What's going on?

Messing around with formats.

I view it as being read out verbatim, the idea about mocking the repativness of form in much comedy.

Oh well better luck next time.

Maybe you could have Ronnie Corbett do it as a little one man show.

You stupid man.

I tried to do similar with the penguin skits but was criticised most vociferously by two members of this site and I think one maybe two members [other than my mum] liked them. Any hoo I don't think this works on paper because there would be so much visual content to it. Keep pushing though Soots.
