'Prince Among Men' starring Chris Barrie had a sports theme - him being an ex-footballer.
It was shit, but Barrie is a fantastic comic actor.

May already have been mentioned but The Book Group had a big sports theme in that it featured the wives and girlfriends of three Premier league footballers (or whatever the equivalent is in Scotland). Great show, although the second series did lose it's way slightly.
