John Adams (HBO)

I don't know if you folks get this new HBO series John Adams (a founding father of the US and first VP of the US) but I just saw the first episode tonight and it was awesome! From what I've heard (from my history major friends and a few articles about the show) it was impressively accurate.
From what I saw was they didn't sugar coat this story.
Here is a link to the site.

Unlikely we'll get it. And is it a comedy?

I thought the whole American Revolution was a comedy. Dressing up the fact they couldn't be arsed to pay taxes by claiming it was all about citizen's rights and oppression by the British Empire. And what the hell was the Boston Tea Party all about Americans drinks coffee :P

Nope not a comedy, but I thought it was a really good American program, that some of you fans of history might really enjoy.
Like I said it doesn't make the Americans look all that good when they tar and feather an innocent man (especially during the Boston Tea Party), or tried to frame a British legion for murder.

I'm not sure what your history books are like over there but I sure hope their a little more accurate then ajp29's explanation. ;)

Nothing Adam says can be believed or taken as close to accurate. These lefties always try to rewrite history.

Anyway, as it's not a comedy, I'm going to move it.

Laughing out loud I may have tarred and feathered history about in my first post :P But the reasons for the American Revolution and Civil War have always puzzled me especially as the victors tried on both occassions to justify it with things they thought of afterwards. Of course the British have never been guilty of this Whistling nnocently

Lord Attenborough wants to make a film about John Adams I think or it might have been Jefferson. I'd probably really like the program as I like anything historical but it hasn't arrived in the UK yet :(

Pitty there wasn't a Canadian day of independence.
I could write that one.

Brit: F**k, it's freezing.
Brit2: Yeah, let's go home.

Laughing out loud

Laughing out loud Yea you send your Criminals to tropical paradise and you're patriots to harsh winters. Wasn't that a kick in the balls.
Canada's independence was slow, long and drawn out. Not really HBO film material.

What makes it all the more ridiculous is that you'd just used the correct term! Bloody foreigners. Angry
