Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Has anyone been to this burger restaurant yet?

I'm involved with some service contracts for a number of their restaurants and decided to investigate one today.

The main thing I can point out is the price. It was £12 for a burger, diet coke and portion of chips. Quite a lot compared to say McDonalds, Burger King.

The surroundings are a lot nicer than fast food joints and the burger/chips were very, very nice. I was left full up.

I'd certainly go back but, due to the price, I won't be going back any time soon. The 'Gourmet' part of their name indicates that they're aiming for a certain demographics and I think that's why they keep their prices high. Most of their restaurants are in London as well, which is another indicator of price. I went to one in Cambridge, which again is a fairly expensive place.

For the record, I had a plain cheeseburger, but they have quite a range - Of particular interest was the 'Buffalo' burger.

I've been drinking Chianti, so I apologise if this is rambling nonsense.

What with being really, really tight, I've not been. And unless they have an offer of some kind, I can't think I'll be going any time soon.

I noticed in the branch I went in, that they had a student offer, but I guess that rules you out...

Nope, I'm a student! (Unfortunately.)

There's one opposite my uni actually, but it's a tourist hotspot so always packed.

I doubt the offer would have been tempting enough though!

I know its London but £12 for a burger meal thing. You can have a nice pub meal for that. I may be a hick but they do let me play in the big smoke now and again.

Yeah, but most pub meals are just microwaved nonsense.

Although, I do really like Wetherspoons Chilli Con Carne.

And well done, Aaron, on taking the plunge to become a mature student.

Not quite 'mature' mate - I'm only 20! (Although I wouldn't hesitate, if need be at a later point... And I could afford it.)

P.S. Wetherspoons breakfast. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I have never ever heard of it.

But I quite like my 99p McD's cheeseburger, so I'm not bothered.

You're 20? Shit!

I thought you were much older for some reason. I feel old now at 25.

I thought he was a proper grown up too, when I first joined.

I don't like the cheese. It's all rubbery and strange. I'm not a cheese fan generally though.

I like any cheese.

Well, not if it smells weird.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Hm.

And I went and spoiled the illusion. Darn. >_<

You aren't even a man yet, Aaron.

Not that I am either, I still look pretty much the same as I did at 20, but with a bit more stubble. And the stubbles only due to laziness.

I look about 12. :(
