Don't Drink The Water

Who's seen the On The Buses spin off Don't Drink The Water, which sees Blakey and his sister move to Spain? I've seen the first episode as an extra on the On The Buses series 7 DVD. It was very funny.

I watched it from the On The Buses boxset and thought it was quite good.Only downside to it was the small size of the cast.In order for a sitcom to really work it needs a number of very funny characters but this had three in the first episode.

I have the box set. It's very good. I just wanted Stan and his family to turn up for 1 episode.

From the department of old thread revival.............

And from Pat Coombs' biog. I'm reading at the moment :-

In 1974, Pat would star in another television series, sadly now remembered as the worst sitcom of her career.
Amazingly, despite being described as one of the most excruciatingly poor ITV sitcoms of them all, it ran for two series and was later released on DVD.

From the IMDb:-

"Interestingly, six years later, 'Reggie Perrin' creator David Nobbs wrote a similar series for the B.B.C. - the appalling 'Sun Trap' (sic) - which despite being shot in Spain, was far less amusing than 'Water'."

So, God knows how bad that was!! Which, according to the IMDb, David Nobbs, the writer (!) said "This series got the lowest recorded audience for any sitcom in the history of BBC One."

And not to be confused with the later "SunTrap" (2015) starring Kayvan Novak and Bradley Walsh, which ran for only one series.
