Two Pints Page 2

That's another reason why I hate it like poison. All the good shows that BBC3 could show (stuff from the Beeb's vaults that hasn't been repeated in years) and they show wall to wall Two Pints. That's probably why it has an audience - it's on so often that people have been bludgeoned in to submission.

"What's on tonight? Seven episodes of Two Pints...again. I must not complain. The BBC knows what's best for me. I must watch and enjoy this wonderful show."

...but yet bbc 3 show it religeously, why?

Because it's a huge success. (Even if people around here are too closed-minded to see so. ;))

I prefer my 'bludgeoned in to submission' theory.

Sorry to be facetious but I think some of us might hate it because we are too minded, period :P

To be serious - Two Pints is always going to split viewers as it deliberately is aiming itself at a particular demographic. There's no way everyone is going to like it. I fall outside of the shows demographic so natually it grates against me, I appreciate there is a large chunk of people who love it so I don't mind Two Pints existing as long as I don't have to sit down with them to watch all the repetitive, banial, telegraphed jokes delivered badly by the fairly average and somewhat pikey cast.

(Regulars will know that I normally sit on the fence to try not to offend any of our readers or kick off an argument on the message board but I'm afraid in the case of Two Pints I can't restrain myself. Sorry.).

You may not like Two Pints, but with the immense success it has enjoyed with its target audience, how any of you can call it "shit" is beyond me. IYO it may be, but as an entity in its own right, it quite clearly is not.

I can call it shit because I think its shit. And because its shit. Really, really shit. And the fact it has proven something of a success in no way detracts from its complete and utter shitness.

I agree that is it shit, but somehow it is watchable shit. I don't understand why myself, so I won't try to explain.

To be honest I don't think Little Britain's much better.

Despite being outside it's audience demographic when it started (sadly) I watched and enjoyed the first couple of series. I didn't necessarily watch it religiously, but regularly.

And it made me laugh. Maybe not consistently, but enough. So, despite the ropey acting and the odd obvious joke, it has to be given credit as a lot of shows are so contrived that they just don't.

Because something is popular it can't be shit? That's crazy talk. Step forward Jeffrey Archer, Big Brother, The Sun, The Daily Mail, Borat and the comedies of Fred Baron, to name but a few.

If it was as shit as everyone here (save Steve) maintains, then it would have completely missed its target demographic. The fact that it hasn't would tend to suggest that it's not all that bad, even if it's not to your particular tastes. But it seems that everyone else is too prejudiced against the show to listen to reasoned argument, so I'll leave it there.

I actually agree with you. Sort of. I do think Two Pints is shit, and by shit I mean predictable with bog standard plots and lines, but I also recognise that it does appeal to a certain demographic, who seem to like it a lot. And when it comes to prejudice, I seem to recall you have pretty black and white unyeilding views on a number of shows (Hyperdrive, anyone?).

Haha, well, a little. But even if I don't necessarily say so in every post, I'd like to note that if I do say something is shit, I do mean IMO. (Hell, even J&J seems to offer something to some people, so it can't be completely shit.)

Whenever someone on here says that a programme is shit, I think it's obvious that they mean it is shit in their opinion. When I stated that Two Pints was shit I meant that I thought it was shit (trying to beat Matthew for the record number of 'shits' in one post). Personally, I don't care if it does appeal to a certain demographic (particularly when it's the demographic that Two Pints goes for). I find it shit and entirely without merit. If that makes me 'closed minded' and 'too prejudiced against the show to listen to reasoned argument', then so be it.

I'd just like to point out that I think it's shit.

If I think something is shit, then I can say its shit. Im not being closed minded, just because other people like it doesnt mean I cant voice my own opinion, which is that this show is a wretched, pathetic, about as funny as arse cancer, rancid little turd of a 'comedy'. And Id just like to finish by once again using the word shit. Shitty, shit, shit.
