Just heard this programme on BBC7. It's repeated at 5pm today.
Part of a series where Paul Jackson interviews influential comedy writers.
Today's one was Dennis Norden, talking about him and Frank Muir writing in the early days of radio (and TV) comedy.
I found it genuinely interesting to learn about how comedy writers worked in the old days. Plus there were some (to me) surprisingly funny clips. I also learnt that it was in fact Norden&Muir who wrote the 'Infamy, infamy' gag for a show, which was later borrowed (with permission) and made famous by Talbot Rothwell. It's also worth hearing just for a very funny joke that Dennis Norden made on a radio show, but he actually self-edited out of the broadcast, deeming it too rude.
I'd recommend other writers to try and get to listen to this. I'm hoping to catch the rest of the series.
