The Lion King

I took my twin 9 year old girls to see the 'The Lion King' musical in London at the weekend. (They loved it, naturally.) I've never seen the film, and whilst admitting that the performances were spectacular, I just could not believe how thin the plot and how generally dire the music was.

I always had a soft spot for musicals. Obviously this is aimed at kids, but I was looking around at the other adults at one point and thinking, "I can't be the only one who's thinking how shallow this is?". It was literally all show and no substance, especially all that toss about the 'Circle Of Life'. I don't understand how this pile of old bollocks is a money-spinner. (Well, I suppose I do in a way and that makes me even more worried.)

What other shows/films etc. do people watch and think "I can't believe they got away with this!"?

I went to see that it was quite good.

Ooh now, Torchwood the Musical is a GREAT idea.

State opening of Parliament, and the Iraq war. Costumes, and special effects but no plot.

Torchwood on Ice would have to have the Silver fox in it somewhere.

I've always been curious how lion king could work as a stage musical are people dressed as lions and baboons?

Torchwood on ice would work...I mean the show can't get any more ridiculous might as well stick the cast in stakes and put them on ice.

I don't know what Zooo looks like but I can imagine some of the faces she's pulling at the screen right now... And I'm scared.

The only way Torchwood could get any worse is if they relocated to Merthyr. Then they really would run into some aliens. I'm waiting for the Merthyr division of the Taffia to come and assassinate me.
