Best ever British Prime Minister?

Obviously, Churchill's probably the best, but I think my nomination for peacetime PM would be Clem Attlee. His government was genuinely visionary and created a consensus in British politics that would last until Mrs T's arrival. I'm also found of Harold Wilson because of his pipe and Ted Heath because he's probably our only gay PM.

You go Trudeau!

Churchill I would have to say.

If you over look the fact that when he was Home Secretary he ordered the army to open fire on protesting miners killing quite a few. I vote for Jim Hackett

Your evidence for this being? A very good interview with Matthew Parris (ex-Tory MP and first to 'come out', though not before he left the Commons), who knew Heath and many of his friends, tends to agree with most people that Heath was more asexual than anything else. Some people don't care for having a sexual identity at all - either physical or emotional.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :S

If you mean Jim Hacker, then I agree! :D

Errrgh.....Yes :$

I would have to agree...definitely a bad thing.

Yes, Jim Hacker, because he was fictional. I wish the rest of them were.

Churchill, proof an alcoholic, manic depressive, standup can be a great leader. He holds great hopes for us all. He also took crack cocaine for his depression, and probably would have beaten Adolf to death him self given the chance.

Either that or that bloke who care takered for the Liberals, he was great fun.

or Lord North he ceceded the American colonies, with a minimum of violence, and his repealing of voting boroughs genuinely progressed democracy.

Attlee.

Alan B'stard. Or didn't he actually get there? He did have the biggest majority in the House of Commons.

Lloyd George. Gave us the Northern Ireland crisis but shafted the House of Lords. A fair exchange I think. [Also shafted his secretary plus many others]
