I believe they are. They sound familiar. Must be verifiable using Google anyway.
I tried that, but all the results are "how to impress publishers".
It sounds familiar to me too! But I can't say for sure that it's a vanity press.

Write a book?
Hang on a minute - are they familiar because they do greetings cards etc.?
...
According to their website they do cards!

Depends if Impress Publishers and Impress Publishing are two separate things.
As well as books, presumably.

Unlikely, surely?
God knows!
My local pet food shop rents dvds.
The world is a crazy place.
I can't find them on the net but I did earlier, strange
I had a quick look and found an Impress Publishers in Australia... is that the one?
I don't know now but I always opt for a search of UK only webs.
I just found it, it's http://www.impress-books.co.uk/index.html
Seems legit to me... I can't see the University of Exeter associating themselves with a vanity press.
thanks Stylo

Vanity press and on-demand publishing hasn't got the stigma it used to. For books where you know there's a limited readership & you're prepared to do the leg work with publicity etc they can be quite good. (WH Smiths in Bath now stock a few on-demand books...mainly local authors)
That said I don't think Impress publishing is a vanity or an on-demand publishing company.
Bushbaby, good luck if you've got a proposal for them.
Thanks, they seem to be a unique species in that they allow you to forward your manuscript unsolicited.
