Only Fools and Horses back again? Page 4

I mean, it wasn't as if Freddie the Frog was a boring man, he was a big criminal who died doing a job. Surely when it happened, Del would have remembered him vaguely, not replied 'Who the hell is Freddie the Frog'. There is no excuses for it, it is bad continuity.

Please God don't bring it back - isn't Green Green Grass bad enough?

Yes it is an insult to the memory of Fools and Horses

OFAH is one of the best ever sitcoms. I hope it doesn't come back because I think it should have ended with Time On Our Hands. Why doesn't John Sullivan write something new now? Being the brilliant writer he is he must still want to write.

He's not a brilliant writer anymore. He was in the 1980s and 1990s, though. And he writes The Green Green Grass, so that shows how bad he now is.

I don't think you stop being a good writer, you just need something thats sets you off again. If he buried any connections with OFAH and stop all the nostalga he might be inspired to write something new.

To be fair to John Sullivan he doesn't write The Green Green Grass any more - it gets farmed out to different writers.

Farmed out !

Boom ! Boom !

:D

I have been keen on having more of certain series e.g. Fawlty Towers, Black Books, Spaced which, to me, seemed to have been killed off before their time but I really do think that OFAH should be laid to an honourable rest.

To me, the way that Last of the Summer Wine was transparently flogged way past the dead horse stage destroyed the good memories I'd had of the original few series. I wouldn't want that to happen to Delboy and Rodders.

Maybe Sullivan drinks a lot of booze and more brain cells have died or something. He can be rather vague in interviews and gets a lot of facts wrong. Not to mention the continuity flaws in Sleepless In Peckham.

I think that might be exaggerating things a little. I guess though that many writers (of any kind) produce their best work when they are relatively young. After that, although they learn more about their craft, they often seem to run out of ideas and inspiration. Also many lose touch and try to remain relevant when maybe it would be better to move on.

It's been some time since I've posted... If they make it as close to the original series as possible then why not?

When they made the post-auction episodes I just wasn't bothered, but on reapprasial there are still a few gems to bee seen in them. Take for instance the scene when Trigger goes to the trouble of helping Rodney reverse the three wheeler into a tight parking spot? After a great deal of 'left-hand down a bit' etc, Trigger pipes up that he can't park that there. That is a classic scene that stands shoulder to shoulder with 'vot isk your name'. The quality of writing on a long running show like this is not down to the writer losing his touch but being able to find new situations to be in, hence 'situation comedy'.

Again, with Green Green Grass, it still has the odd gem of a scene.
I have thought of a way to nicely tie up the whole GGG and OFaH.

Picture the scene if you will: Boyce is sitting in his country pile when here can hear a noise that he recognises but cannot place. He goes to the window to see in the distance coming up his long drive a yellow three wheeled van and a dayglo Capri back firing their way up the drive. It is the Trotter clan, dropping for an unannounced long weekend... After all is wont be tha first time the Trotters have used one of Boyce's weekend retreats is it?

Food for thought?

I just wish they would release it on DVD in its complete form, the cuts in 'Jolly Boys Outing' was criminal IMO with that classic Trigger line removed :(

A 2-part special would be good where they kill off Del at the beginning of the second episode.
