Pledging allegiance to the Queen? Page 3

Blair would never win a presidential campaign... he shot himself in the foot over Iraq...

Our problem is that we have no statesmen, just self-serving soundbite merchants. The only person in British politics worthy of being president is Tony Benn and I fear he is too old...

kjs

Blair was just an example ...silly.
Tony Benn, now you're talkin' :D

Frankly President Blair, would have a stronger air of legitimacy, then our prune faced queen. He at least has proved an abillity to lead, and bar a slight whoopsy in Iraq, probably murdering his opponents, and PFIing us into hock for generations. Wasn't a bad Primeminister

They'd rip us off more than Royalty!!!!!! Costing far more

I hate to sound like I'm standing up for him, but as we don't vote for a Prime Minister, this argument is null and void. (As for disenfranchisement, the other 39% of people aren't disenfranchised; they made their choice not to vote, so have no right to complain or feel hard-done-by when a person or persons they do not like gets into power. The fact that Labour only got 36%, and that - if I remember rightly - they got less votes in England than the Conservatives did is a whole different matter again.)

I realise we have never voted for a Prime Minister, but I think that most voters place their vote according to who leads the party. Ask the average member of the public who their MP is and they won't know despite the fact that they probably voted for him.
Disenfranchisement is, I agree a whole different matter, but perhaps those too lazy, stupid, ignorant etc to vote could be killed in some way... cut out the deadwood etc...

I disagree. Well ... Killing Frenchies is obviously a good thing. But the principle I disagree with in the strongest possible terms.

I think you'll find the threat of violence soon sharpens the political mind. and that surely is a good thing

I somehow don't think that this is a uniquely British problem, as you seem to be implying.

I agree, it is not uniquely British but this is where I live at present so they are the ones that affect/effect (never sure on that...) me directly.

Are you laughing because he's old or because I suggested him?

One thing you can say for Tony, is the boys a chiselling little earner.
He'd make this country a fortune. He'd pimp put the Chelsea Pensioners, use the Royal Navy for whaling, and turn Buck Palace into a casino cum brothel. That guy would snorkel through a silage pit for a 50p coin.

Tony Benn should be beheaded at the Tower of London for high treason, along with George Galloway. Both visited, and gave comfort, and support to a country, this country was at war with at the time. The fact that are streets are over run with violent thugs. Is directly attributable to our courts unwillingness to hold MPs to account for acts of treason.

That is actually a lot funnier than many of your sketches...

kjs

I'm sorry... if you folks keep tossing the slow balls I'm gonna punt them out of the stadium...

That's fine I'll write it up as a skit, and send it to Her Maj. Hopefully she'll laugh as she signs the death warrants.

As for unfunny skits, we fall to rise. I'm afraid I some times put my not so good ones out to see why they don't work.

In this I make you into my little Jillian McKeith. Allowing you to nose through my excrement.

Laughing out loud

I do love a bit of banter...let's not make it personal though - and try and keep it constructive!!

If you're a tosser in my forum, I'm going to punt you out of here! :P Be nice - no curve balls!

Yes, that's all very true. But then that's the voter's fault, not the politicians' or the electoral system.

Affect, in this instance.

The suggestion.

Then there is only one answer... Eugenics...

Thank you

And Sooty and Ellie, I am only joking.... Rolling eyes

Good :)

Keep the royal family. Scrap the oath. But above all, ban the government.

Our civil servants in Canada still have to swear allegiance to the Queen when they go into government. How lame is that? No offense to you royalists in the UK but we're our own country.

Hold on... pehaps I'm approaching this from the wrong angle...

How about making the royal family self financing, like the Hospital/health care trusts.

Put it all out to tender.

The monarchists still get to worship at the feet of the royals, the Daily Telegraph still has a reason to exist and I don't have to pay for any of it...

Might put a bid in myself... The Diana Experience, a rollercoaster ride that ends in a bone crunching crash, no seatbelts of course.

I'm afraid your not... you are nought but a territory of the British Commonwealth...

kjs

America's hat has to kiss the royal butt?

That'd screw anyone up.

Yes... the good citizens of Canada are still subjects of The Crown. Even those Frenchies. They may have got rid of the monarchy in their own country but it's still the Queens head on the Twenty...

Don't make the same mistakes the USA did!

And you don't get access, directly or otherwise, to any of the taxes taken from the tourists who come here to see them. Woops, there goes the NHS!
