I love the Damned. I saw the Final Damnation tour where an overweight, fag smoking, Captain Sensible came out for the 1st encore with nothing but a pair of purple Y-fronts on. He looked at the crowd and said "F**k It". As quick as a flash, he stood starkers with his guitar, belly hanging out, and a fag dripping from his mouth. He preceded to jump about like a looney for the next 30 minutes.
Their version of the stones song Citadel is amazing.
I only saw the Damned once at Finsbury Park - I think it was their 10th anniversary gig. It's over 30 years now since they started.
I think that they single-handedly started Goth.
I've seen them 3 times, and each time they've raised the bar. A great back catalogue of songs, plus the best band appearance on the young ones. It was the one where Alexi Sayle was the South African Vampire!!!!!!!!!

Love The Damned too... one of best ever punk bands imo. What was it about bands in the 70's/80's though... they all had to be The Something... The Jam, The Cure, The Fall, The Stranglers, The... * goes and puts kettle on... makes cuppa ... drinks it and returns*... Sex Pistols, The Clash... X-Ray Specs must have been way out there!
The Abba? The Black Sabbath? The Frankie Goes To Hollywood? The Guns 'N Roses? The Duran Duran? The Adam and The Ants?

'A' is the best name for a band, ever. Closely followed by 'The Music'. Really, REALLY hard to search for those to download!

I love "A". Great band.
The The is hard to search too, as it coms up with pretty much anything with "The" in.
