Starting tomorrow night on ITV2 (11th March 2008) is a host of new comedies.
This would appear to be the proper start of ITV's new strategy of giving comedies and performers a space on ITV2 to try out new stuff in an attempt to find some hits for ITV1.
Keith Lemon's World Tour (10pm)
Comedian Leigh Francis's alter ego Keith Lemon explores the world, meeting a host of celebrities along the way. In week one he visits America, where he joins the Chippendales in Las Vegas and meets up with Spice Girls Mel B and Mel C. In Montana he tries his hand at being a cowboy, but only after he's first paid a visit to a Testicle Festival. Side note: Interesting to see Leigh Francis has switched to ITV. Wonder whether C4 didn't want this show?
Laura, Ben and Him (10:30pm)
New sketch show written by and starring upcoming comedy stars Laura Solon, Ben Willbond and Marek Larwood, who fuse their three individual brands of comedy into one show featuring sketches, vox pops and a series of bizarre recurring characters including the philosophical Terry and Terry, Jill and her office pony, and a clown who sues for work-related accidents. Side note: I like these three, lets hope this is as good as it sounds!
Comedy Cuts (11pm)
Fast paced showcase of the country's newest and most exciting comedy acts. Includes material from Victor Lewis-Smith and music from If.Comedy Best Newcomer Tom Basden. Among the others featured are heavy metal Aussie Steve Hughes, Irish star Andrew Maxwell, madcap vaudevillian Count Arthur Strong and the outrageously outspoken Scott Capurro. Side note: In total there are 50 comedians in this show! It's packed with lots of faces you'll sort of recognise, but are not quite sure where from... take the above photo for example, there's that guy off 'Thank God You're Here' and the bloke from 'Hyperdrive'
