Sketchy Idea

Has anything like this been done before?

A man enters a wine shop and trys the sample wines. The shop assistant tries the wines with him as well. The wine assistant is obviously getting turned on by the taste of the wine. He starts off with little comments such as "Imagine having this with a nice steak, mmmm", but soon leads on to comments such as "I'm getting (sniffs) Yes (sniffs) I'm definitely getting some wood".

Something similar happened to me today and I thought it was quite funny. Translating real life into comedy doesn't always work, but with some exaggeration, perhaps this could.

How odd. I was working on a wine tasting sketch yesterday. It's the kind of bit you'd need to see performed though.

I think your idea has potential. Be interested to see how you wrap it up.

Sounds a bit like "Suit you Sir". But I don't think you really need to worry about originality at the moment. I think you need to get the technique down and practice with the structures, even writing you own versions of old sketches and finding your own voice within them.

You impress me with your sheer volume of sketches you write, I think this is good. And even if you do happen to accidentally copy another sketch, so what? You should be able to distinguish as a Winterlight sketch.

I'm sure Wine tasting sketches have been done a million times over, with every idea explored. What you need to worry about at the moment is whether what you've written is good and is worthy of an audience.

Sounds a bit like "Suit you Sir".

Yeah, that's what I immediately thought when I was putting the idea together. I'm trying to consciously differentiate it from that at the moment. Got one ending idea so far, but I don't think it's strong enough.

I'll post it up when I finish it.

I could imagine it being more like Ted and Ralf. The more the expert drinks the more he loses his inhibition's and starts to declare his love for the man.

It's taking a similar path, with the assistant getting more insane, but oh well you'll have to wait and see the finished thing!

All I can reveal at the moment is that it contains the line:

Man: Little what?

semilion, semi-on a fine old pun.

I was just trying to think of wine related puns, but I don't think I could dare end on that!
