Decision Advice

I get my bonus next month and I was going to consider using it to pay for a course (I am already booked on Stand-Up Comedy course seperatly).

As people know I generally (at the moment) just write sketches.

I must admit I am torn between a good comedy writing course (recommendations please) or another tract I'm really interested in persuing is Script Editing and notice the BBC do a 2 day course on that, but is it too early to be considering this?

Is script editing something that I should maybe looking to do further down the line?

(Or there is the 3rd option of just buying something Shiny which Ellie and Rube both recommended).

Not sure what a Stand-Up course consists off? But I would go down the stand-up route first, to see if you are funny and the instant reaction you recieve might tell you if you want to do this and how seriousessess you are about it?

Take the course & by a shiny thing.
A stand up course would be fab fun & if I had the dosh I would join you.
I fully intend to do one this year. My kitchen must come first though. .

LOL.... yeah erm I've been writing sketches with various success for about 8 years.

So Stand-up is just something EXTRA as well as...

Basically it's a choice as well as doing sketches to move onto Script Editing or more general comedy writing.

Something shiney...

You can spend years reading about writng, doing courses about writing but the only way to get better at writing is to write and write and write...

You don't become a marathon runner by sitting in a classroom talking about running, you have to get out on the road and pound the pavements...
