A simple juxtaposition. I'm 50/50 on this one. Or maybe 30/70 is more accurate.
MALCOLM AND CHRISTINE ARE PREPARING TO GO OUT. THEY ARE ABOUT 40 AND HAVE TWO TEENAGE KIDS, DANNY AND ELLA.
MALCOLM AND CHRISTINE ARE READY TO GO OUT TO A SCHOOL DISCO. THEY ARE IN ILL-FITTING SCHOOL UNIFORMS, HAVE SCHOOL BOY AND GIRL HAIR AND LOOK A BIT OF A SIGHT.
CHRISTINE: Ok, be good while we're out. There's food in the fridge, the dog's been fed and if anything goes wrong, Mr Jones is in next door, or we'll have our mobiles.
DANNY: Shouldn't mobiles be confiscated?
MALCOLM: Don't interrupt your mother. Right, remember to record Jools Holland for us. We'll be back by 2am, but no getting up to anything. If you're not in bed when we get back they'll be hell to pay.
MALCOLM AND CHRISTINE LEAVE.
ELLA: Right. Hurry up and get ready, we have to be there in an hour.
DANNY: But you heard what dad said
ELLA: Relax. We'll be back before them.
CUT TO DANNY AND ELLA COMING BACK DOWN HAVING GOT CHANGED. THEY ARE DRESSED FRUMPILY IN CARDIGANS AND CHORDS. ELLA IS CARRYING A BOTTLE OF WINE.
THEY LEAVE THE HOUSE AND WALK TO THE VILLAGE HALL. LOADS OF SIMILARLY DRESSED TEENAGERS ARE ARRIVING.
DANNY AND ELLA GO INSIDE AND SIT DOWN. AN ORGANISER TAKES TO THE STAGE.
ORGANISER: Hello to Lenham Youth Centre's first Cheese and Wine evening.
