Good idea, could see it running as 'bumpers' around other sketches.

Not bad, funny, and daring, you could spin the whole thing out as every news item focuses on it.

It was the same thing with the earthquake the other day and when Camden Town was torched and all the reporters could talk about was Amy Winehouse's pub. As a thought, a follow-up sketch could be "Coming up after the break...."
